Art & Programming - A Makerspace Class for Kids
Picoboards are like Lego Mindstorms in terms of teaching robotics and programming, but with a heightened focus on artistic expression. In this class, kids will learn to program the sensors and actuators to respond to their environment and make things happen in the world around them.Sundays 7/14/2013, 7/21/2013, 7/28/2013

The Santa Barbara Public Library System is partnering with Santa Barbara Makerspace to offer classes and open nights to provide opportunities for makers and developers of all ages. If you would like to teach, mentor, donate, or sponsor tools, equipment and/or supplies to support the Library in this effort, please tell us your email. Beginning Programming for Kids
Learn some entry-level programming in this series of three classes. Local programmers will teach kids how to use the program Scratch. Kids will learn using library computers. Registration will be limited to 10 kids, and kids should plan to attend each of the classes, as each class will progress from the previous week. Parents are asked to remain at the library during the class, and are welcomed to stay in the room during the class.
SB Makerspace Panel - Santa Barbara Public Library
A panel discussion introducing the Library makerspace program to the public is scheduled for Tuesday May 21st, starting at 6:30pm in the Lower Level (and future Children's Library) of the Santa Barbara Public Library (map). Several maker tools and maker-made objects will be on display.
